Winter Shenanigans and Creative Team winner

Dear Paperlovers,

Winter is in full swing in Pretoria and it is a chilly one at that. The best way of overcoming the winter "blues" is to paper project your way through it. I don't know about you, but paper just makes me smile. It really makes me happy and I forget about all my woes and the cold, when I am playing with my paper. The new Henry Collection has given me so much thus far and I have a couple of projects that may inspire your heart.

This collection is not really a Travel collection. We do have some travel elements in it, but for the most it is just a lovely playful collection with a lot of versatile elements that can be used in just about any project you may have in mind.

The first project I created with this collection took me less than 3 hours to complete. This double layout is called "Memory Lane". About 3 years ago, after a difficult work trip abroad, we had enough saved up to take trip, long overdue honeymoon to the lovely island of Mauritius. I have traveled to Mauritius when I was still at university. It was for an outreach and we visited various little churches around the island and stayed in a large beach house right on the beach. It made quite an impression on me then. I still have to scrap that trip. This trip however was very special as it was with my hubby and he has never been to this island before even though he is quite the traveler.  Thus, this is no travel layout. It is more about the lovely holiday experience and the moments shared with my hubby and the freedom after the tough time we had just before it. We love road tripping and we love ice-scream...OK, I love ice-scream (Henry does too as seen in the layout ;)) and it is also about the freedom that holidays and lazy days bring. I wanted to capture that in this layout.

I used the butterflies and the large sentiment to the left "Don't you just love blue skies, fluffy clouds and butterflies?" to set the mood for this one. This day on our roadtrip through the island, gave me a little bit of a "pick-nick" feel. I wanted to capture that so I used the card square minis in the background like scattered paper napkins.

I like the randomness of this layout and all the little details. I didn't have a sketch to work from. I normally don't. I like to do my own thing. I may be inspired by layouts and gather ideas, but when I sit down to work, I like to work from the heart. Isn't that what it is about? Your own art.

I know a lot of ladies say: "I don't want to think out the plan. I just want someone to give it to me", but as an educator I like to inspire people to learn from others, but then apply what you have learned and in the process develop your own style.  Doing your own thing, will, in the end, give you more creative satisfaction.

We loaded this layout as a kit in the store. So if you don't want to "think out the plan", you can purchase the elements to this kit and the sketch is included in the kit.  I do want to encourage you to do your own thing even when you purchase a kit. What is the fun in just following what someone else did? You may come up with an even greater layout, but you won't know if you don't try, right.

We design elements...the creative elements that will inspire you to create. So be creative with it!

The next project was to celebrate our dad. We took these lovely photos last year with our first birthday anniversary of Ivytree Studio. We actually need to do another birthday "something" this year as we have past our second birthday already. We have just been so busy designing, that we haven't gotten round to it.

I basically used some Anita's 3D glue and doubled up some of the elements on white cardstock with foam squares. I don't feel that Scrapbooking should be about a ton of products. It is after all about the memories that you want to preserve in your scrapbook.

In this layout I am showing you that you don't have to use flowers if that is not your thing. Instead of flowers, I used the foilage, the berries and some feathers to add a little softer touch to my layout.

The fact that our dad is the head of our family and he is our Faith Warrior, a Priestly King, I used the crown elements from the Creative Elements Cute Cuts pack. He is our "Once in a lifetime, smart dad FOREVER!" and we love him so! I feel this layout captures that family moment perfectly. We also took similar photos of our mom with us and I am planning to scrap that with this collection too.

I haven't done cards in a while, but this collection has inspired me to get going again. I even made some quick tags. They are just so simple.

You can use these tags in your Bible Journaling, give them away as bookmarks to friends and family, use them as a gift tag or even use them on a scrapbook layout.

Next up....

Creative Team Competition (May/June 2018)

Thank you so much to all who entered this competition. Interesting to see that most of the entries focused on the Happy Day, Love and Seize the Day collection from 2017 and a lot of the colours where focused on pinks and reds.

The entries varied from double and single scrapbook layouts, cards, a junk journal project and a couple Bible journaling entries. That is what we like to see. A little bit of everything.

Join our Ivytree Studio Friends group to see all the entries up close.

We loved all these projects and the hearts behind it so much that we are giving each entry a little Henry Collection digital kit as a gift. We will load the item in the store and you can order your free gift from there.  We will share the link to the kit as soon as we have loaded it in store.

Everyone else can purchase it, but these 5 girls will receive it FREE of charge!
We hope to see you create with it soon.

We are happy to announce the WINNER of this Creative Team Competition, is
Valerie Ann Thorpe.

We have followed her work for a while now and we are so happy that she entered this round. We love her quirky style and her single layouts are just so fun!

We will be sending you a batch of the Henry collection to play with together with a couple of challenges and we can't wait to see what you do with it. So get those creative juices flowing and start collecting ideas and photos.

If you are excited about the Henry Collection and missed the first run of it, you can keep our next order cycle in mind to place your order for this collection and some new items launching soon.

Until next time.

#Paperlove - Creative Team competition and New collection

Dear Paperlove Friends,

It is all a buzzzzz at the studio this week. So much is going on and the two of us are really excited about what we have been working on. Yesterday we had a lovely meeting with our brand new printing partner and we are so excited about what we will be bringing you in the coming months.

To celebrate, we decided to bring you the opportunity to be on our Creative Team.

We are keeping things simple this time around. You will be able to enter the Creative Team competition.

Requirements are:
1. Use our paper products to create ANY papercrafting or art project.
2. Post your project to the Ivytree Studio Friends group on Facebook by 7 June 2018

The winners will receive a free pack of our brand new collection. You will then receive a "challenge email" with instructions on how to create a project for the Creative Team with that paper. So for each paper pack you will have to complete the challenge and send us good quality images.

Your Creative Team projects will be blogged about here on our blog and featured on our Social Media pages.

All images you supply us as part of our Creative Team will be copyrighted under Ivytree Studio but your name will be featured as a watermark on each image you supply.

So what do you get: Free paper, exposure and the opportunity to create and share your work.

Each new collection will have a new Creative Team, but if your work is excellent, we may want to include you in the next run anyway.

We will review the T's&C's for the Creative Team each year.

Your task is basically:
1. Create with the paper according to the challenges provided

Types of projects we may suggest in the challenges are:
Scrapbooking: Double, Single layout or Project Life
Cardmaking
Journaling: Art journaling, Bible Journaling, general notebook journaling
Planners
Pocket letters
Mixed Media Art
3D PaperCrafting
Party/Event D├Ęcor

2. Take beautiful pictures in natural light
3. Submit your pictures

From time to time we may launch Creative Team competitions and ask the winners to do a blog post tutorial or video on their project.

So, if this interests you and you would like to enter, join our Ivytree Studio Facebook group today and start creating.

Contact me via email if you don't have some of our product in your stash. We have some stock available for this purpose and can courier it to you before end of May so you have time to still create a project with it for the competition. You can also just place your order directly in our online store here

We hope to see your entries in our group soon! Can't wait! :)

Talking about the new collection....remember to keep your eyes peeled for it and keep visiting our Ivytree Studio Facebook page this week for announcements. We have worked so hard on this one and I am super excited to share it with all you #Paperlovers! If you are just half as excited about paper as I am, you will love this collection and all it offers you.

We want to make sure you understand who we design for, because we want you to know that we design for YOU!:
We don't just focus on Scrapbookers. We design for creative girls like us. Girls who have a love for paper and for creating beautiful things. We are memory keepers, but we don't just create for your traditional scrapbooker. We create for the girl who likes to think out of the box. I hope that's you! The creative girl...the artistic girl.

We are also Faith Girls. We believe in Jesus Christ and we desire to honour our King with the gifts He has given us. This is our heart and not a sales pitch. Our business is a Kingdom Business and we firmly stand on the Word and the principles in it. We don't suggest that we are perfect or better than anyone else.  For us it is a way of life and just who we are.  It is a part of us that we cannot separate form anything we attempt in life.

Because of who we are, we want to bring you products that you can use in any project and know that it will not open spiritual doors that you don't need in your life. So we will never create any product related to Halloween, fairies, mandalas, fantasy images like unicorns, magic related topics or anything that has an occultist undertone.

We love to bring you healthy, wholesome, light-filled products that will rather inspire you, give you hope, fill you with faith and a desire to create and honour the Creator Who designed you. This is our commitment to ourselves, to God and to you. I am including it in this post again, because we are so passionate about this. You can hold us to it.

We also believe in supporting local, not just saying but actually living it. We are local girls, our printing company is local, the people that work for them, are local and the products we bring you are locally manufactured.

We believe in supporting local small entrepreneurs and so we are working on bringing you a totally new way of getting in on our product. We are calling it our Ivy Brand Ambassador Program. It is going to be like a club.... a paper club that you can belong to but so much more than that.  It will also be a way for us to inspire and support women in general.  You will be helping us promote our brand and at the same time earn a commission. Now, that sounds like fun. If you are just starting out or you don't own a large store front, then this opportunity may make a lot of sense to you. You get to play with lovely products, help us promote it where you are and earn a little extra each month. Girls who are serious about business can grow this opportunity and turn it into a business. You wont need a tone of capital to invest to be able to start this Program. Now that's good news!

What about the retailers? We haven't forgotten about you. You can still buy our products. You can still earn discounts according to the size and frequency of your orders. Loyal customers are rewarded. This has not changed.

We just need you to understand a couple of things:
1. We are a boutique studio and not a large distributing company.
2. Each order placed with us, is "made to order" - we feel this is a more sustainable way of doing business and we don't want to waste one tree by over-manufacturing or by flooding the market with our product. We don't believe in "dumping"
3. Our products are special...really special because a lot of love and care goes into designing and manufacturing it. We are a family owned business and so you will receive a special and personal service.
4. We believe that any retailer will be able to purchase our products if they have the right attitude, are realistic about pricing and profits, aren't greedy or demanding and don't over charge the consumer.
5. Last but not least, we suggest that smaller retailers who cannot afford large stock investments because they need to stock a variety of products to serve their clients, should consider a PRE-ORDER system of their own. We launch our collections, you promote it to your clients, take orders and place your oder by the 7th of the month. You can add a little extra in your order to be able to have some stock, but mostly you will place a realistic order on sales you already have. Your risk is smaller this way and you don't lock your capital in large stock quantities that you cannot guarantee will be sold. That makes so much business sense, doesn't it!

While I'm on the subject  of a PRE-ORDER system:
1. We have been wanting to implement a monthly order cycle since the beginning. Unfortunately our first printing partner couldn't get us their. We have been working with our new partner and we are starting with the monthly order cycle this month.
2. Our set dates each month in which you can place your order is: 27th of each month until the 7th of the next. You can however place your order any time, but when you place it will determine when it will ship. We will always let you know in advance.
3. Say you order the new collection before the 7th of June, we will be able to ship before the next order cycle start on the 27th of June.
4. As we have been working hard on sorting out all the new changes and getting things in place, that we will be able to bring you something new each month.

The conclusion you can take from this is that we run a Pre-Order system and that each order is "made to order". We don't want to keep large stock quantities for a variety of reasons. It also doesn't make sense for our type of business and for the market we are in.

Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements in the coming weeks and months on this subject.

In our next post we will be sharing some inspiration and also by then our new collection will have been launched.

Until next time.

2018 Happenings at the studio

Hi there creative friends,

We have been sooooooooo busy at the studio designing up a storm these past few months, that blogging was just not on the table.

I have however been able to do a few quick posts over at my personal blog, so head on over there to check out a couple of my 2018 projects by clicking here.

We have been quiet, I know, but it is because wonderful things are happening behind the scenes. Soon to be launched is a brand new really special collection and some other new releases and changes. We also have a couple of new directions we are taking with how we manage our business in general and where we want to go with it. Very exiting stuff.

In the meantime, check out our new butterfly cute cut packs and the Love Butterflies and Pearli Poppie kit...they are sooooo jummy and I have just started to play with them. Enjoying every minute of these little lovelies. Get yours today by clicking here!

If at any time you cannot find something in our store or on the website, just note that we are applying big changes and this may be the cause. Just drop us a line and we will supply a direct link for you to what you are looking for.

You can also still get your hands on this lovely kit. I did a TN project and class with it earlier this year and the ladies loved it.

This butterfly pack is actually colour coded with the Love collection too, so you can easily add this pack to your order to enhance the kit. Remember that my Love TN kit comes with a full colour tutorial and loads of pretty paper. .

These two packs are colour coded with our first collection, Hadeda Garden. So if you still have some of that paper in your stash, you can give it new life by adding these pretty butterflies.

Christmas at HOME

Hi there Paper Lovers!

Hope that your year is ending well. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. I am still having so much fun with the Finesse collection and now we are on to December and Christmas and Holidays and more fun. I have been working on a Christmas collection since June and suddenly this past week it just came together. I can only give God the glory for it. He is my inspiration all the time.

Read more about this collection here: Click here

Without much further ado, here is the visuals:

As always, we have a core collection and in this one we have 12 items, 24 designs. We included a lovely poster for you to display in your home (maybe add it to a little frame). We know that you make gift boxes for Christmas and so we also added some pretty tags. Once again this collection has so much to offer cut wise. We have a nativity scene that you can cut and make a 3D display with, cut flowers that you can layer on your creations, the tags and also wordy strips and lovely accent elements from trees to cameras and more. The first item is also designed to be a twin page but some of the other items can also be used as twins.

Then we have our sturdier base elements on 240gsm cardstock in all four colours. Just listen to the names of these colours: Calabash Gold; Warm Berry; Apple Cider and Angel cloud. Doesn't that make you dream about all things Christmas! :)

Once again we have our Simple Pretty collectible packs. This time around we changed the design set to include gift boxes and stars for Christmas. And we have it in two jummy colours.

New to our collections are also the #Minis
In this collection we have 24 designs for you including some bonus cut features to help you make easy and quick Christmas cards.

We just love our Cute Cut packs. They are so versatile. They work for scrapbooking, cardmaking, Bible and Art journaling and for use in your planner or diary or anything else for that matter. We also suggest you can use them for the album set we brought out this month. (see next immage)

And we just know you will love these little beauties! Also a new product in our line...the flair button. We decided to not bring it out in set packs but allow you to order any of the designs in any quantities. You also have to option to order them as flatback or with a pin. This gives you control over what you want and can afford. They are R8,50 per button. (Just note that we also have two other items with a variety of buttons listed in our store)

AND FINALLY...THE BIG DEAL:

I wanted to document my December using the Project Life way of scrapbooking which is my all time favourite. I designed 140 cards (Available in English or Afrikaans) to go with a lovely printed album. The covers (front and back) are in full colour. You can add your own date or even your family name to the label on the front. There are 62 pages of plain white cardstock inside (240gsm) and you just need your photos, memories, moments and the card set to complete your album...oh and some glue.

The Set is R590 but you can also order the albums and card set separately. The covers are available in Green and Red as well as Blue and Red.

(Disclaimer: All Ivytree Studio items are always available in English or Afrikaans for your convenience)

A note from #GraceLilly (Bible and Prayer Journaling):

Also note that I designed the Pretty Pocket Card set so that you can use this album as a Faith journal as well. Lots of faith based items in the set and if you use it together with the CuteCuts pack, you will have enough goodies to document your faith journey through December.

ORDER CYCLE:
Our final order cycle for the year ends
Thursday night, 7 December 2017 at 24:00.
Please place and pay for your orders before then.
We want to be able to deliver before Christmas, so we would need you to adhere to this deadline.
